A single embedding can tell you two images are alike. It can’t tell you why, and it can’t be defended. Tracor scores every candidate on five independent signals, each measuring a different property a designer would recognize, then combines them into one composite you can take apart.

THE SIGNALS

What each one measures.

SIGNAL A

Motif geometry

The shape of individual elements - a petal, a paisley, a geometric form - independent of where they sit or what color they are. Catches a motif that has been recolored or rearranged.

SIGNAL B

Layout and arrangement

How elements are distributed across the repeat - spacing, density, the structure of the tiling. Two patterns can share motifs and still differ entirely in arrangement.

SIGNAL D

Local region similarity

Correspondence at the fragment level, region against region. Surfaces partial reuse, where a portion of a design appears inside a larger, otherwise different composition.

SIGNAL E

Color and texture

Palette relationships and surface character. Deliberately weighted light - colorway changes are the easiest thing to alter, so color agreement corroborates but never carries a match.

SIGNAL F

Combined embedding

A learned representation of the design as a whole - the overall visual impression, closest to how a person perceives two patterns as related before analyzing why. It anchors the composite; the other four explain it.

CALIBRATION

Bands, not verdicts.

Scores resolve into calibrated bands rather than a yes or no. Only candidates that clear the threshold become alerts, and what the band means is a judgment for you and your counsel, never for the system.

LowModerateElevated

Calibration is done against real legal-corpus data drawn from decided fabric-design cases, not synthetic augmentation. Patent pending.

THE FRAMEWORK

Structured to what attorneys cite.

Output is organized around the abstraction-filtration-comparison analysis from L.A. Printex Industries v. Aeropostale, the framework fabric-design attorneys work in. Every alert carries the methodology, the per-signal scores, and the source provenance behind the match.

Tracor reports technical observations. It does not reach legal conclusions - that judgment belongs to you and your counsel.
